COOLTHERM 6408

Main features

  • Extended 20-30 Minute Work Life
  • High-Elongation Cured Protection
  • Electrical Insulation for Encapsulation

Product Description

Circalok 6408 A SLW/B Urethane Encapsulant is a solvent-free, two-component urethane system for potting and encapsulating electrical and electronic assemblies that need flexible, shock-resistant protection. The slow 6408 A SLW resin extends processing time, and the mixed material has a typical viscosity of 5,000 cP with a 20 to 30 minute working life at 25 deg C. Resin and hardener mix at 3:1 by weight and cure in 24 hours at 25 deg C. Typical cured performance includes 250% elongation, Shore A 85 hardness, 1 x 10^14 ohm cm volume resistivity, and 23.6 kV/mm dielectric strength.

Key features

  • Extended Processing Window: The slow 6408 A SLW resin gives a typical mixed working life of 20 to 30 minutes at 25 deg C.
  • Flexible Cured Elastomer: Typical cured properties include 250% elongation at break and Shore A 85 hardness.
  • High-Resistivity Insulation: Typical cured volume resistivity is 1 x 10^14 ohm cm and dielectric strength is 23.6 kV/mm.

Applications

Potting and encapsulation of electrical and electronic assemblies requiring flexible, shock-resistant protection.

General Properties
Appearance
Appearance at room temperature.
A: Amber Liquid | B: Yellow Liquid | Mixed: Amber Liquid
Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Volume Resistivity
Volume resistivity, also called volume resistance, bulk resistance or bulk resistivity is a thickness dependent measurement of the resistivity of a material perpendicular to the plane of the surface.
